The Grovemade is the opposite of the Roost in every dimension. It is a solid block of walnut with a felt-lined channel for the laptop to sit in. You do not move it. You arrange your desk around it.
It is the best-feeling stand I have used. The laptop sits motionless. The materials age well. The only reason I retired it was that I started traveling enough that having a desk-bound stand stopped making sense.
If your laptop genuinely lives on a single desk, this is the platonic ideal of the category.
